Cyrille Oswald

Cyrille Oswald launched his professional career in the beginning of the 1990s when he was residing in the Caribbean. After his return to his native Holland he studied at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague with John Ruocco. He has been recording and performing in Holland and abroad with formations such as Cubop City Big Band, Nueva Manteca and Rumbata and since 2008 he has mostly been active in Prague. Following his participation as one of the tutors at the jazz workshops organized by the Czech Jazz Society he established his own quartet together with David Dorůžka, Tomáš Liška and Daniel Šoltis, with whom he recorded his fourth album The Wrong Present comprised of his own compositions. The music of Cyrille Oswald draws on many diverse musical styles, including world music, alternative trends and contemporary classical music.
