Krása Quartet
The Krása Quartet was founded in 2012 at the Prague Conservatory under the direction of Tomáš Strašil, where its members, young Czech musicians, Šárka Petříková – 1st violin, Jan Palouček – 2nd violin, Daniel Menhart – viola and Marie Forestová – cello, met. The ensemble bears the name of the Czech Jewish composer Hans Krása, who perished in Auschwitz. In its repertoire, it combines musical tradition, represented for example by the quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven, with the music of 20th-century composers, with a special focus on the music of Hans Krása and other Terezín composers. It regularly participates in master classes (Pavel Haas Quartet, Hagen Quartet) and festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad. It collaborates with outstanding pianists such as Jan Bartoš or Marek Kozák, with dance ensembles and choirs. For example, it was part of the ballet production Vertigo at the Prague National Theatre for several years.
In 2025, the Krása Quartet released its first album, "Youth", which presents the works of Jewish "Teresin" authors Hans Krása, Ervín Schulhoff and Karel Ančerl from their early youth, before the political events after World War II cruelly affected their lives.
