For his new trio project the pianist Najponk – whose previous trio album, “It's About Time” with Gregory Hutchinson and Ondřej Pivec, received the “Anděl” Award for the best jazz album in 2010 – invited the eminent Czech bassist Jaromír Honzák whose albums have received three “Anděl” Awards so far, and the young British drummer Matt Fishwick. This brisk album features Najponk’s arrangements of more or less “standard” repertoire including, for example, Ellington’s “Solitude” and “Chaplin’s Smile”, as well as one piece by Najponk himself and an excursion into the work of the French avant-gardist Erik Satie.
