Najponk | Animal Music

Najponk

About the artist:

Najponk’s music and repertoire has its basis in the tradition of American jazz and the great piano trios of the 1950s and 60s, including giants like Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, and Herbie Hancock. His unique performance style consists in an original approach to the jazz classics, inventive and buzzing with enthusiasm, but free of any incongruous experimentation. In addition to the pianists mentioned above, Najponk has been influenced by jazz figures such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, but he gets inspired by other genres as well, including classical music (from Bach to Scriabin), rock, folk, and pop music (Led Zeppelin, Nick Drake, Peter Gabriel, and others). His life motto in life comes from his music too: „4 is the most“ („four“ referring to the four swinging beats).
