Vertigo
Vertigo is a band recognized for its unique style, sound, and dynamism. During the twenty years of its existence, it has achieved a cult status with its fans. While most pieces are from the pen of saxophonist Marcel Bárta or pianist Vojtěch Procházka, each of the six members, recruiting from the Czech and the Slovak scene, has contributed to the band’s unmistakable sound. Besides Bárta and Procházka, Vertigo’s signature sound is created by vocalist and cellist Dorota Barová, trumpetist and vocalist Oskar Török, double-bassist Rastislav Uhrík, and drummer Daniel Šoltis. They all have been active in a number of other projects within the jazz scene and on other platforms as well. Their diverse musical experience has been merged in an original whole comprising elements of modern and experimental jazz, electronic music, acoustic alternative approaches, and song repertoire, all with a great deal of musical humour and wit. Vertigo is the winner of three Czech Music Academy Awards.
