Singer, lyricist, and artist Jakub König, known for his project Kittchen where he performs as a masked chef, or until recently, as the frontman of the band Zvíře jménem Podzim, is releasing his first album under his own name. For the first time without a mask, pseudonym, and a big band behind him. He enlisted the producers Petr Ostrouchov and Aid Kid, who have a successful track record collaborating on albums like Řeka by Lenka Dusilová and Za vodou by the band Dunaj. In a close creative collaboration, they created eight new songs based on Jakub's demo recordings. The invited studio musicians included drummer Roman Vícha, bassists Jakub Vejnar and Tomáš Liška, percussionist Tomáš Reindl, as well as guest vocalists Nivva and Marie Puttnerová. The personally resonant lyrics are inspired by experiences associated with holotropic breathing and altered states of consciousness that Jakub has gathered over the past ten years. He also references his past struggle with alcoholism and his current emotional state as a double father and someone who gratefully embraces the more joyful aspects of life. "After many years of reflecting mainly on the shadowy and darker aspects of the world in my work, a lot of joy and gratitude now appear in the new songs. Just like in my life. The Stars is an album about the fact that sometimes you need to go through a dark forest... but at the end of it, there's a fire. And in the end, we all gather around it." The album is richly adorned with Jakub's visual art, which he began to fully devote himself to during the pandemic. The psychedelic colorfulness seeps through the lyrics and into the pages of the booklet.
