Tomáš Liška

“I am a generic chameleon but I mostly oscillate between jazz and world music. I have no fixed source of inspiration but draw on my own experience, on the people whose company I seek and the situations that I find myself in, the music I listen to, as well as the time that I dedicate to composition. I believe that you need to nourish what you wish to see thrive.”

Tomáš Liška named his band Invisible World after his first, eponymous album from 2009, whose newer version, with a different line up, brought him international success at the 2017 world music expo Womex, followed by a tour of Japan. His latest, self-published album brought him the prestigious Anděl Award for the jazz album of 2020. In our catalogue, he can also be encountered in many other projects, acting as a performer, initiator, co-author, or sideman. Tomáš is a regular member of the Druhá tráva band and a passionate agriculturist and promoter of the permaculture principles.
