About the artist:

Pianist and composer Vít Křišťan is a renowned studio and concert performer whose art has been appreciated by audiences at many European music festivals. He studied jazz at the Music Academy in Katowice and at Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense. Apart from dedicating himself to composition and concerts with his own trio, he is also permanent member of the bands of Robert Balzar & Dan Bárta, Jaromír Honzák, Marta Kloučková, Tomáš Hobzek, Mareka Urbánek and the Concept Art Orchestra big band. He is a sought-after teacher with posts at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts, Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague. In 2013 he released his debut album Imprints and in 2017 he collaborated on a trio project with Oskar Török and Jiří Slavík. In the catalogue of Animal Music he also features on several albums by Jaromír Honzák, the Inner Spaces (which he co-founded together with Štěpánka Balcarová and other students at the Katowice Academy), and on the latest album by Tomáš Hobzek, entitled Supernatural Phenomena. In 2019 he and Concept Art Orchestra performed a premiere of his Concerto for Piano and Jazz Orchestra. In 2022 he collaborated as the second improvising pianist on a studio project titled Svou chvíli (A While of One’s Own) with songs by Martin Brunner and Markéta Foukalová.
